We’ve recently worked with Hillingdon Hospitals, who had 149 stranded patients, to get those who were medically fit for discharge out of the hospital and into the right care for their needs. With our intensive support, stranded and super stranded patients were discharged within 7.5 days. Overall the length of stay for stranded patients was reduced by 377 bed days in two weeks, equating to up to 24 beds saved annually and resulted in a ward of 11 beds being closed.
What Hillingdon Hospitals did so well was commit to understanding what was stopping people being discharged when they were medically fit to leave and then implementing solutions to those challenges. https://lnkd.in/grhMExa
